What is Fire (Send to Kitchen)?
Fire (or Send to Kitchen) means the “fire” command tells the restaurant POS system to send an order from the server to the kitchen to begin preparing the dishes. An order that is fired will pop up on the KDS or print a kitchen ticket indicating the dishes that need to be made.
It enables coordinated cooking in kitchens to optimize food preparation for multiple orders.
How does Fire (Send to Kitchen) work?
The fire function connects to the kitchen workflow and the restaurant's POS system.
The process is as follows:
- The server takes the order and inputs it into the POS system at the restaurant.
- The order is checked over and verified.
- The server clicks “fire” or “send to kitchen.”
- The order is displayed on the KDS or on a kitchen printer.
- The cooks in the kitchen start working on the order.
- The order is completed and is moved to the expo or pick-up station for delivery to the table.
