What exactly is Guest Count?

Guest count is the total number of customers in one group on one receipt. So, if you are in a restaurant, that would be the number of people seated on one table and charged one check. In mini-golf, it's how many people are playing. In bowling alleys, the whole group can be charged a group rate in the POS system.

The importance of guest count arises if a restaurant automatically adds gratuity to the bill for wait staff if a minimum number of guests are present. Businesses also offer group discounts and would wish to track the guest count as well in their point-of-sale system.

Key Features of Guest Count

Importance-

Guest count is needed to calculate how many food/drinks may need to be provided, how tables should be arranged, and how staff should provide service at busy times.

In Restaurants & Businesses-

Hospitality businesses track guest count in the point-of-sale system to know how many persons have been seated per table if they use a single check. In addition to this, managers can also track customer traffic and service statistics.
