What is a Handoff Screen and how does it work?
A Handoff screen is an electronic display commonly found in restaurants and cafes. Its purpose is to let customers know when their order will be ready for pickup or delivery. Handoff screens are typically placed near the order pickup counter so customers can easily see when their orders are ready.
Handoff screens connect to either the Kitchen Display Systems (KDS) or the POS Systems. Once an order is prepared, it will be automatically displayed on the Handoff screen when the KDS sends a notification that the order is ready for pickup.
Customers can check their order using either the confirmation number or by checking the customer's name on the Handoff screen. This type of system streamlines customer order pickup by allowing customers to confirm their order is ready via a visual indicator before approaching the service counter. Additionally, Handoff screens help reduce confusion at the pickup area and allow staff to more effectively manage busy or peak-volume service periods.
