What is In-Store Pickup?
In-store pickup is a convenient ordering option for customers. They can place the order through the restaurant's website, mobile application, or online ordering service and pick it up from the restaurant without waiting for delivery or ordering at the counter.
This option has become common for most restaurants using digital ordering because it allows customers to avoid long wait times in line and receive their food faster. By offering in-store pickup as an option, restaurants can reduce the costs associated with delivering food to customers’ homes while still fulfilling online orders.
When a customer places an online order and selects pickup, the order is instantly sent to the restaurant's POS system. The POS then sends the order to the kitchen display system or prints it at the kitchen station. Kitchen staff prepare the order according to the planned pickup time. When the order is complete, it is typically placed in a designated pickup area, counter shelf, or pickup station.
Food ordered through in-store pickup is prepared at the restaurant and made available when the customer arrives, providing a quick and efficient pickup experience.
