What Is Integration Middleware?

Restaurant integration middleware is a tool used to connect different restaurant technology systems so that they can share data and cooperate with ease. Integration middleware serves as a bridge between these different systems. It provides a way to transfer data from system to system so that all the information remains synced across the restaurant’s technology stack. This means that instead of manually moving data between systems, integration middleware automatically does it in the background.

By providing a means for sales data, menu changes, customer orders, and payment records to remain synchronized across all of the integrated systems in the restaurant business, integration middleware provides a means for keeping all information up to date and secure.

How Integration Middleware Works?

In many restaurants, middleware is typically an integration layer that connects the POS System as the main system. For example, when the customer places an order through an outside ordering system, the middleware will automatically send the order to the restaurant’s POS.

The POS then saves the order in its database and forwards it to the Kitchen Display System (KDS) for preparation. The middleware may simultaneously send this same sales information to various accounting software or provide updates to the Inventory level.
