What is Multi-Tender Checkout?
The ability for customers at restaurants to split their payment into separate transactions among several payment methods is referred to as multi-tender checkout. Customers can pay part of their bill using cash, credit or debit card, digital wallet, or gift card, the last time they were in the restaurant.
The multi-tender checkout system provides more options for customers when they go out for dinner with friends. By using it, the restaurant can-
- Make splitting the bill between several people easy
- Provide an easier way to pay and reduce the amount of time it takes to check out
- Allow customers to pay using several different types of payment methods
- Make sure the restaurant keeps a better track and makes fewer mistakes in invoices and payments
- Find ways to make sure the customer will be happy with their payment ease and selection.
How does it work?
Modern POS systems allow for the splitting of checks so that multiple forms of payment can be applied to the split. For example, if there are two guests at a table, only one of them could use any mode of payment other than cash to pay their bill, using either a credit card, a debit card, or online payments. The system will automatically keep track of how much each guest owes while also being able to keep a record of all payments made towards settling the total bill amount in real time.
