What is a PAX Payment Terminal?
A PAX Payment Terminal is an electronic payment device utilized by restaurants to safely process payments made with credit and debit cards, EMV chip cards, and contactless (NFC or mobile wallet) payment methods.
How Does the PAX Payment Terminal Work?
To use the PAX Payment Terminal, the guest will need to access the POS system and initiate a payment when they are ready. The POS system will then send the transaction amount to the PAX Payment Terminal for processing. After the guest has inserted, tapped, or swiped their card or device through the terminal, it will send both a secure and real-time authorization request to the payment processor.
Once the payment processor has authorized the transaction, the payment is fully processed by the PAX Payment Terminal, and the terminal will either generate a digital receipt or print a receipt. The POS system will automatically save the transaction details for inclusion in reporting, thus removing the need for manual entry of the transaction and creating a seamless checkout process.
