What are POS Accessories?
A restaurant POS system is made up of POS Accessories which are additional pieces of equipment that help make your restaurant POS system function.
For Example, receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, kitchen display monitors, and customer-facing screens. POS Accessories complement the main POS terminal by assisting in operational efficiency and improving service efficiency.
How does POS Accessories work?
The various components of a POS accessory can connect directly to the POS system through cable connections such as USB, Ethernet, and wireless connection types (i.e., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
As all transactions are completed, the accessories will perform specific functions. For example, when an item is sold, the receipt printer will print the customer’s receipt; the cash drawer will open manually so that cash can be taken; and the kitchen display system will allow orders to be sent to the Kitchen in real-time.
Automating these functions enables POS accessories to decrease the amount of manual labor performed at the POS system, allow for faster service, and allow for real-time communication of transactions between front-of-house and back-of-house employees.
