What are POS Accessories?

A restaurant POS system is made up of POS Accessories, which are additional pieces of equipment that help make your restaurant POS system function. For Example- receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, kitchen display monitors, and customer-facing screens. POS Accessories complement the main POS terminal by assisting in operational efficiency and improving service efficiency.

How do POS Accessories work?

The various components of a POS accessory can connect directly to the POS system via cables (e.g., USB, Ethernet) and wireless connections (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi). As all transactions are completed, the accessories will perform specific functions. For example, when an item is sold, the receipt printer will print the customer’s receipt; the cash drawer will open manually so that cash can be taken; and the kitchen display system will allow orders to be sent to the Kitchen in real-time.

Automating these functions enables POS accessories to reduce manual labor at the POS, allow for faster service, and enable real-time communication of transactions between front-of-house and back-of-house employees.
