What is a Fast Casual POS?
A fast casual POS is a system built specifically for the pace and style of fast casual restaurants. Think of it as a counter-service, order-at-the-register, no table service model you see at places like a build-your-own bowl or sandwich spot.
Speed at the counter matters most, since you've got a line of guests ordering back to back during a rush. A good fast casual POS is built for quick, simple transactions, often with a lot of customization options built right into the screen. Modifiers can be used for toppings, sizes, or add-ons that a cashier can tap through fast without slowing down the line.
Most fast casual POS systems also have heavily self-service kiosks where guests can order and pay without a cashier, and tight integration with mobile ordering and delivery apps.
Since there's usually no table service or tipping in the real sense, these systems are also built differently around that.
