How Do You Set Up a Restaurant Menu?

Menu setup means getting your menu ready, which is ready on the paper and on your POS system, the orders are flow correctly from the dining room to the kitchen.

The menu should always come first. Sort the food first into a number of categories, including sides, drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts.

Before determining the price, find out how much each dish's ingredients will cost. After that, make sure the price of your meal is between 25% and 35%.

The next step is to prepare your POS system. Enter each item with its price and category, then add modifiers, which are the options guests ask for, like temperature on a steak, a side swap, or no onions. Set each item to print at the right station, whether that’s the grill, the bar, or the fry station.

Don’t forget extras like happy hour pricing, daily specials, and items you can mark as sold out.

Test everything before opening night. Ring in a few fake orders and make sure they reach the right place with the right details.
