What is the POS Ecosystem?

The term "POS Ecosystem" relates to the complete integrated hardware- software, and tools used to operate a restaurant's POS system. This includes, but is not limited to, POS terminals, payment processing equipment, online ordering platforms, inventory control systems, reporting tools, and 3rd-party integrations; all working together toward more streamlined restaurant operations.

The Functioning Of The POS Ecosystem

The POS Ecosystem integrates all components of the POS to provide real-time data sharing. When an order is entered, it goes from the POS device; this information is transmitted to the kitchen, and the inventory levels of each item are immediately updated. The transaction where the food was sold is recorded in a reporting system, and the credit card is processed through an integrated gateway.

This process allows for the different areas of the restaurant, such as front of house, back of house, and management, to operate together efficiently and effectively. Utilizing a total POS Ecosystem alignment within the restaurant will allow the restaurant to operate more efficiently, eliminate much manual labor, and also achieve far greater visibility to the business as a whole.
