What is a Virtual Terminal?

A virtual terminal is a computer-based payment solution designed for remote card payment entry that makes restaurants eligible for an online merchant account. In essence, with a virtual terminal, restaurant POS systems occur manually via computer, tablet, or POS instead of card swipe, tap, or chip insert.

In restaurants, Virtual Terminals are the most practical tool for:
  • Phone orders
  • Catering Deposits
  • Event Bookings
  • Advance orders
  • Corporate Sales
  • Manual payment requests

In order to get a payment, a member of your staff who is certified logs into the virtual terminal, and the client’s credit information will be typed in, after which it can be given out for authorization. Subsequently, the payment gateway provider confirms the data as soon as they have it, and accordingly make payments done either approved or not authorized.
