How does printer routing work?
"Printer routing" refers to the automatic process that directs restaurant POS system orders and receipts to designated printers according to established printing rules.
The system guarantees the accurate delivery of information to the appropriate stations, including the kitchen, bar, and front counter.
All of the items and categories of the POS system are configured to send orders to a specific printer. Drinks will be sent to the bar printer, food orders will be sent to the kitchen printer, etc. The POS system will automatically print drinks to the bar printer and food items to the kitchen printer.
This increases efficiency by making sure that all of the stations on the POS are receiving all the orders they need. Inefficient routing means that the restaurant is prone to becoming confused during service, with food orders appearing on the bar or drink orders being sent to the kitchen.
