What is NFC (Contactless Payments)?
NFC (Near Field Communication) cashless payments are made without sliding or inserting your card, cash, or similar items into a machine; instead, tap or wave the card, phone, or watch at the payment terminal. You will no longer have to handle or count cash to make payments.
In today's restaurant industry, contactless payment solutions are becoming increasingly important because they offer speed and convenience. They provide a variety of benefits to restaurants, including-
- Faster checkout process and, consequently, shorter wait times for guests.
- Greater hygienic conditions through less physical contact.
- An overall enhanced customer experience with fast and instant payment processing.
- Reduced cash-handling risk (i.e., lost or stolen cash) and reduced the likelihood of error associated with cash handling.
- Increased transaction security through the use of encryption and tokenization technologies.
How does NFC work?
When you place an NFC-enabled device close to a POS terminal (within a few centimeters), they communicate wirelessly to complete transactions instantly using secure, encrypted technology. Examples of this technology include tap-to-pay cards, Apple Pay, and smart watches.
