What is the POS Hardware?
POS Hardware refers to all physical devices used in restaurants for POS operating systems and daily transactions. Examples of these hardware devices include- POS terminals, tablets, cash drawers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, payment terminals, and Kitchen Display Systems. Each piece of hardware must work together seamlessly as a cohesive unit to allow for order-taking, billing, and processing of payments to take place.
How Does POS Hardware Function?
The POS system has both hardware and software that work together via wired or wireless networks. The staff input orders using a terminal or handheld devices and then send those orders directly to the kitchen, either through a printer or on a display screen. Customers check out by using payment terminals to accept credit or debit cards or other forms of electronic payment, and finish by using a cash drawer and a receipt printer.
The hardware components are all synchronized in real-time with the central POS system, creating accurate data flow, faster service, and continuous cooperation between the front and the back of the restaurant.
